Creative Card-iology Team Blog Hop - A Touch of Ink and Shimmer Paint

We're back for another Creative Card-iology Team Monthly Blog Hop, and we are once again celebrating Sale-A-Bration!  There are only a few more days left to It's that Stampin' Up! time to earn free Sale-A-Bration products with purchases of $50 or more!  Thank you for celebrating again with me here on my blog today, and when you're finished here please check out my teammates' blogs by clicking on the links below.

I decided to experiment with some Shimmer Paint along with the A Touch of Ink stamp set. I know I used this stamp set last month for our team blog hop as well, but I just had to come back to it because it's my favorite Sale-A-Bration stamp set!  I thought the bold outline stamps would show up nicely against shimmer paint backgrounds.

A while ago I watched a YouTube video by Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Tina Zinck using a Faux Mother of Pearl technique that I just loved so I thought I would try that out with the Touch of Ink stamp set.  For this project I poured a small amount of Frost White Shimmer Paint onto a paper plate, and then using a wadded up piece of plastic wrap, applied shimmer paint over a piece of Basic White cardstock.  Once the Shimmer Paint dried, I used blending brushes to add color over the shimmer paint with several colors of ink.  In the project shown below, I used Pretty Peacock, Coastal Cabana, Balmy Blue, Seaside Spray and Highland Heather.  Once I had my sheet of paper inked up, I went over it lightly with a slightly damp paper towel.

I next stamped my image in Pretty Peacock ink onto my Shimmer Paint background and die cut it with the largest oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies collection.  I die cut a scalloped oval from Pretty Peacock cardstock using the largest scalloped oval from the Layering Ovals collection.  I trimmed a piece of Pool Party cardstock to 3 3/4" x 5", spritzed it with some water and embossed it using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.  I added a length of Pool Party Shimmer Ribbon across the embossed piece and then adhered it to a card base of Pool Party cardstock.  The sentiment "Hope" was stamped onto a scrap of the shimmer background and punched out with the Double Oval punch.

I next fastened the matted oval onto the embossed card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.  A second piece of the Pool Party ribbon was knotted around the piece already adhered to the card front to form a bow.  I finished off my card by adding the punched sentiment and some Holiday Basic Rhinestones.

Below is a card  where I used Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint on the Oh So Ombre Designer Series Paper, with Merry Merlot ink and cardstock, Rococo Rose cardstock, the Blushing Bride Metallic Ribbon and Opal Rounds.

Experimenting can be fun and sometimes frustrating.  But without trying something new or testing something out, how can we learn and grow?  I found quite a few videos for different techniques with the Shimmer Paint.  Do a search for Stampin' Up! Shimmer Paint techniques and check them out for yourself.  I would love to see what you find and try for yourself!
