Welcome to the November Creative Card-iology Team Monthly
Blog Hop! This month our theme is
treats/giftables projects. I decided to
make an angel treat holder using the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch, an early release
from the Spring Mini Catalog.
I punched 4 hexagons from one pattern and 2 hexagons from the
distressed gold patterned paper or the gold foil sheet.
Two of the hexagons form the treat holder base. I glued the two hexagons together in opposite directions, then scored along the sides of each hexagon to form a 1” box when folded and corners glued together.
The other two hexagons became the bodies of my angels that would be adhered to opposite sides of the base. I die cut two Basic White circles for the angel faces using the second smallest circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies collection.
The two gold hexagons were cut in half for the angel wings. When I used the gold foil sheets to punch
hexagons, I embossed the hexagons with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder. I first attached the circles the tops of
hexagon bodies, then attached the wings.
I made sure to line up the hexagons, circles and wings as I adhered everything
together so that both sides would match when adhered to the box base.
Once I had the angels adhered to the base, I pulled the
heads together and punched a hole in the top of the heads. I cut a 6”-8” piece of the gold Elegant Trim,
folded it in half and pushed the loop end through the punched hole. Then I pulled the ends through the loop and
tied a knot in the ends. The halo was
then placed down onto the head over the trim.
My project might have required a little “out of the box” imagination to see an angel in the hexagons, but it was kind of fun trying to figure out how to make it work. This treat holder could also double as a tree ornament.
The Heartfelt Hexagon bundle is just one of the bundles featured online currently and will also be in the new mini catalog. I can’t wait for the rest of the new catalog items to be available!
