Before the Stamparatus came arrived, I totally avoided using 2-step stamping because I had a difficult time lining up the images just right. I have a much easier time with 2-step stamping now using the Stamparatus, but the photopolymer stamps in the Touch of Ink set make is super, super easy to get beautiful 2-step stamped images! Or you can just stamp the outlines and leave it at that or color the images - beautiful any way you stamp them!
I colored the Grace's Garden floral image with Rococo Rose and Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blends, starting with the Light Blend of both colors first, and accenting with the Dark Blend.
For the Touch of Ink floral image, I first covered the image with Light So Saffron Blend, and then used the Light Rococo Rose Blend over that. I did some shading along the stamped outlines with the Dark Rococo Rose Blend. I don't always use a 3rd color when using the Blends, but I think using another color might add a little depth to the coloring.
I googled hummingbirds to see how I should color my hummingbird images, and I found pictures of the ruby-throated hummingbird that I though would go nicely with my red themed card. I colored both hummingbird images the same way, first coloring the throat area with Light Cherry Cobbler Blend, and then going over the rest of the images with the Light Sea Foam Green. Then I colored the head, belly and part of the wings with Light Crumb Cake. I added some shading with Dark Crumb Cake and Dark Sea Foam Green. I also added a little bit of Light Granny Apple Green at the bottom of the wing area near the belly, as my googled photo had some bright green coloring there.
Once I had my images all colored, I was ready to put my card together! I first cut some slits in my fence pieces and threaded a length of the Blushing Bride Metallic Ribbon through the slits. I laid my ribbon across the DSP layer and fastened the ends to the back of the DSP with adhesive. I moved my fence pieces where I wanted them, one to the left hand side and the other on the right hand side, leaving a little room for my Grace's Garden floral image. I added glue dots to the back of my fence pieces and adhered my Grace's Garden floral piece with Dimensionals.
I then adhered the DSP layer onto the black cardstock layer and fastened that matted layer to my card front. I glued the white oval onto the black scalloped oval and adhered it to the card front next to the fence, which left some room to slide a ribbon underneath and tie a knot around the ribbon threaded through the fencing.
I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to add glue to the back of the vellum hummingbird along some stamped lines along the wing area near the belly and glued it to the colored white hummingbird, aligning the stamped outline as best as possible. Once that glue dried, I placed dimensionals on the back of the hummingbird and adhered it to my card front.
This is a great stamp set. Bonnie, you and me all used the same stamp set, but we all had totally different cards. Love your card!
