Sale-a-Brating with Detailed Dogwood

Welcome to our January Creative Card-iology Team Monthly Blog Hop!  January is one of my favorite months as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator because a new mini catalog comes out and it’s Sale-a-Bration time - and that means free product with orders of $50 or more.  Don’t you just love FREE stuff?

One of my favorite free (with $100 order) items in the Sale-a-Bration brochure is the Detailed Dogwood stamp set, and I loved the cards featured with this stamp set (page 15).  So I decided to c.a.s.e (copy and selectively edit) the design.

I also love the Stampin’ Glass Mat Studio that is a FREE bonus option for the Sale-a-Bration Starter Kit join special (choose $125 of products and pay just $99 (includes shipping) and choose one of the bonus options).  I use my glass mat all the time, and this project was no exception.

I used the Stampin’ Brayer to cover a piece of Basic White cardstock with Petal Pink ink and then applied Wild Wheat ink with a Blending Brush around opposite corners of the cardstock.  One of the reasons I love the glass mat so much is how easy it is to apply ink with a blending brush, bringing the brush in from the glass mat onto the cardstock.  And it’s so easy to clean up the ink from the glass.

My next step was to tap my Calypso Coral ink pad onto my Clear Block E and then spritz the inked block with water.  I pressed a wad of plastic wrap into the spritzed ink and then applied it to my cardstock in 3 places.

I lined up the long dotted texture stamp from the Detailed Dogwood stamp with a grid line on my glass mat, inked it up with Petal Pink ink, and then laid my cardstock piece over it centering the long bottom edge over the inked stamp.

I stamped the shorter woven texture image just above the dotted image about ½” from the left edge, and then immediately stamped the image again just above and to the left (without reinking) so that the image ran over the left edge of the cardstock.  I stamped the small floral image in Calypso Coral ink over this textured image and also stamped the dragonfly image in the upper right corner in Calypso Coral ink.   I stamped the ampersand image in the lower right corner in Petal Pink ink, about 1” from right and bottom edges.  My final step for this piece was to distress the edges with Early Espresso ink.

On a separate piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the larger dogwood image in Early Espresso ink and the ticket image in Wild Wheat and then cut both images out with Paper Snips.  I also punched a sentiment label using the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch.

The sentiment I used is from the Softly Sophisticated stamp set and embossing folder bundle in the Sale-a-Bration brochure (another free with $100 item).  I used the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker from the Neutrals set to color just the “hello” portion, stamped it on my hexagon at the top left, and then cleaned off the stamp.  Then I colored the “there” portion of the sentiment stamp and stamped it underneath.

I spritzed a piece of Early Espresso cardstock with water, wadded it up and then unfolded it and then ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Softly Sophisticated Embossing Folder.  I finished off this cardstock piece by brushing the edges with Wild Wheat ink.

After cutting a 3 ¾” piece of Natural ¼” Wavy Trim, I now had all my piece ready to assemble my card as shown above.  My final step in assembling the card was to adhere some Calypso Coral Opaque Faceted Gems (another FREE item – with $50 order) to my card front.

For our Team Tutorial bundle this month, I designed a slimline panel that can be used for a card and which I used for the front cover of a journal made from discarded return envelopes.  I followed a similar process to that above and created a page layout for my journal.  You can receive the Team Tutorial bundle free with any order placed with me this month.  Check out all the new products at my webstore here.

There aren’t enough words to tell you how much I LOVE my Stampin’ Glass Mat Studio!  I know you’ll love it too, and I would love to help you get the Glass Mat free with a Starter Kit.  You can email me at kimskeepsakecreations.com or click here for more information.

Don’t forget to check out my teammates’ projects for more Sale-a-Bration inspiration!  Thanks for hopping with us this month!
