This month’s blog hop is a color challenge based on the colors of a shirt which you’ll see pictured above. You can check out my teammates’ blogs by clicking on the links toward the bottom of my post.
Finding inspiration for cards or other projects can sometimes be a bit intimidating. But I have been learning to look around me for inspiration – I may find it in a scenic view at home or in the mountains of Colorado or a combination of colors in a piece of clothing or other fabric pattern!
One of the things I love best about being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is the inspiration shared so willingly in the creative community of demonstrators and stampers. I drew inspiration for my card project today from Bruno Bertucci’s video featuring the Joseph’s Coat technique.
I used sponge daubers to lightly daub splotches of ink on a 5.25” x 4” piece of Whisper White cardstock in Petal Pink, Terracotta Tile, Cajun Craze, Balmy Blue, Misty Moonlight, and Mossy Meadow, leaving a few small spaces of the Whisper White showing.
I stamped the floral image from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set onto the inked cardstock using Versamark Ink and then poured clear embossing powder over the stamped image. After shaking off the excess powder, I heated up the remaining powder that adhered to the stamped image with the heat gun. I then inked up a sponge brayer with Night of Navy ink and rolled it over the whole piece of cardstock. The embossed image resisted the Night of Navy ink, leaving the colored cardstock showing through. I rubbed a tissue over the embossed image, which made the colored and embossed image pop.
I cut out the image with Paper Snips and adhered it to the textured Cajun Craze layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I stamped the Thank You sentiment onto a strip of Whisper White, adhered it to the bottom of the textured layer, and added a couple of blue rhinestones from the Holiday Basic Jewels.
Using the Joseph’s Coat technique for the color challenge allowed me to use multiple colors in one layer. I hope you try this technique and that you share your projects when you do!
I love being part of a creative
community that inspires me in so many ways, and I would love to have you join
my team if you’d like to be a part of a great community of stampers and
crafters! Stampin’ Up! has a Get
& Go Starter Kit promotion going on through the end of September. If you take advantage of this awesome promotion,
in addition to the already great value you receive with the normal Starter Kit you will receive enough cardstock pieces to make 16 cards, a pack of
