Sharing in Sorrow

I'm a bit sad today.  My friend Susan's husband, John, passed away yesterday.  I've known Susan for going on almost two years now from a church ministry group, but only met her husband a couple months ago when I had the opportunity to eat dinner with them.  I enjoyed my time getting to know both of them in a different setting, especially now with social distancing and quarantine regulations in place.

While I can't give a hug in person, I still have the option of supporting and encouraging my friend by sending a card.  Susan is an avid gardener and loves flowers, so I decided to use the Flowering Floral Specialty Designer Series paper, available as a Free with $50 Sale-A-Bration item through the end of today, for my card.

I used soon-to-be retired colors, Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch, from the 2018-2020 cardstock and In Color Stampin' Write Markers collections to make my card.  I cut a strip of the Flowering Floral DSP and colored the flowers using the fine tip end of the Lovely Lipstick marker and the brush end of the Pineapple Punch Marker.

I adhered the colored DSP to another strip 1/4" wider than the floral piece.  I made 3 cards, the first of which was simply stamped with a sympathy sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.  I punched out the sentiment for the second card, popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals, and added ribbon and also Gilded Gem embellishments from the Ornate Garden Suite, which will be released tomorrow.  And on the 3rd card I used a border die from the Ornate Border Dies (also from the Ornate Garden Suite) and added a scalloped die cut circle behind my punched sentiment.

There's still a few more hours to take advantage of all that Sale-A-Bration offers - Free items with $50 or more purchases, a special host stamp set, and the very special Join offer, which includes a free stamp set of your choice, a sample pack of papers from the current Mini Catalog and the Mini Trimmer, beyond the normal $125 of product for only $99 plus tax.

The Ornate Garden Suite releases to customers tomorrow, and it is a beautiful suite of products!  I participated with a group of demonstrators around the world to create a bundle of tutorials featuring this suite of products - 90 tutorials in the bundle!  You'll be hearing more from me about how you can purchase this bundle of tutorials or get it free!

Here is a list of products used in the creation of my cards.  If you'd like to check them out further or find out more about the Join offer that ends tonight, visit my online store here:My store

Even though there is much sadness and sorrow right now, I also have hope because of the relationship I have with God.  He has revealed himself in His Word, and it says in Psalm 34:18 "The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in Spirit," and in Psalm 119:50 "This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life."  I am so glad that in the swiftly changing and often sorrowful events happening right now, that I can cling to God's promises and the hope I have in Him.
