Creative Card-iology Team Blog Hop - You're Someone's Blessing Fun Fold

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!  I am participating in a blog hop with a few of my friends from the Creative Card-iology Team, so once you've checked out my blog post you can hop on over to their blogs by clicking on the links toward the bottom of the post!

This month we were challenged to make “fun fold” cards.  I haven’t made a lot of folded cards, so this was stepping a little out of my normal routine!  I decided to try a layered accordion fold for my card project, using several of my favorite stamp sets and papers.

One of the things that has really hit home to me over the last few months is how much we all need to be encouraged right now.  The words we write or speak have the ability to lift up or tear down, and it is so important to speak kind and graceful words to others and to ourselves.

I love being able to make and send cards that help me convey encouraging messages to others.  My card today is going to be sent to someone who has recently been an encouragement and blessing to me.

I love all of the new 2020-2022 In Colors, but I think Misty Moonlight is my favorite!  I cut a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock to 5 ½” x 11” and scored it along the 11” side at 4 ¼”, 6 5/8”, 9”, and 10”.  I used coordinating patterned papers from the In Good Taste, Flowers for Every Season, and 2020-2022 In Color 6x6 Designer Series Paper collections for my matted layers.

I stamped the lighthouse image from the Sailing Home stamp set onto the blue canvas patterned paper from the In Good Taste DSP collection with Misty Moonlight ink and colored the lighthouse with Stampin’ Blends from the Seaside Spray and Balmy Blue Combo packs.  The stamped sentiment on that layer is from the High Tide stamp set.

The lone girl image and “You’re someone’s blessing” sentiment are from the Beautiful Moments stamp set, and this set is just so gorgeous!  The image and sentiment were stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Misty Moonlight ink, and the girl is colored with blends from the Seaside Spray and Night of Navy combo packs (I couldn’t find my Light Misty Moonlight Blend or I would have used that instead of Night of Navy).  I die cut the girl and a larger scalloped oval with dies from the Layering Oval Dies collection.   The sentiment and accompanying card stock layer were punched with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.

I finished off my card with a 1” wide band to hold it closed when mailing and layered another punched sentiment on the band.

I hope you enjoyed stopping by my blog today!  Don’t forget to check out the projects on my friends’ blogs by clicking on the links below, and we always appreciate hearing your thoughts so feel free to leave a comment!
