My Favorite Color is October

Thanks for checking out our October Creative Card-iology Team Blog Hop! Our theme this month is anything relating to the fall season!  You can hop on over to my teammates’ blogs for some more autumn inspiration by clicking on the links toward the bottom of this post.

Our team creative challenge this month is “My favorite color is October,” and I decided to create my blog project around this theme as well.  I do love the fall season for a lot of reasons, not least is the turning of the leaves from green to the gorgeous autumn colors.

The Hello Harvest bundle was a perfect choice to highlight the October theme.  I love the sentiments and images in this bundle!

I also decided to use a fun book-fold design for my card.  Directions for creating the card are below.

Cutting Instructions:

 - Card Base – 4 ¼” x 11” Blushing Bride Cardstock

 - Layer 1 – One 4” x 4” and One 1” x 4” Cherry Cobbler Cardstock

 - Layer 2 – One 3 7/8” x 3 7/8” and One 7/8” x 3 7/8” Texture Chic Designer Series Paper (DSP)

 - Inside Layer and Die Cuts – One 4” x 4”, Two 3 ¼” x 3 ¼” and One 1 ½” x 4” Basic White Cardstock

 - Real Red 3/8” Ribbon – One piece approximately 4 ½” and one piece approximately 4” long

Stamping, Die Cutting and Assembly Instructions:

1.      Score card base at 4 ¼” and 5 ½”.

2.      Fold card base in half at 5 ½” score.  Fold cardbase along the 4 ¼” mark so that the card front folds up as a book would.

3.      Tap leaf image on Blushing Bride ink pad and apply Cherry Cobbler ink around edge of stamp with Blending Brush.  Then stamp image on white cardstock.  Repeat for second leaf image.

4.      Stamp pumpkin and small flower images in Cherry Cobbler ink on white cardstock.

5.      Die cut pumpkin, leaves and floral image using Rustic Pumpkin Dies.

6.      Die cut a circle using the second largest circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies collection.

7.      Stamp “Hello” sentiment at the top and toward the right of the circle die cut, and stamp “You are such a blessing” sentiment and small flower images on white inside 4” x 4” layer.

8.      Outline pumpkin image with Light Cajun Craze Blend.  Color all of the inside of the image with Light Pumpkin Pie Blend, and then add some shading around edge with Dark Pumpkin Pie Blend.  Color pumpkin stem in same manner with Dark and Light Old Olive Blends.

9.      Color small flower with Petal Pink Blend.  Add shading with Light Flirty Flamingo Blend at center of flower and base of petals.

10.  Color Real Red ribbon pieces and three pearls with Dark Cherry Cobbler Blend.

11.  Adhere Layer 2 pieces of Texture Chic DSP to coordinating Layer One pieces of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

12.  Adhere ends of longer ribbon piece to the top and bottom of the thinner matted layers.

13.  Adhere larger square matted layer to the right side of the scored card front, and adhere thinner matted layer to the left part of the scored card front.

14.  Adhere stamped circle to the top right of card front.

15.  Apply mini glue dots to back of pumpkin image and adhere to card front, overlapping the bottom left of the circle. Apply mini glue dots to back of leaves and adhere to bottom of pumpkin.  Apply mini glue dots to the back of the flower and adhere the flower to the center of the leaves.

16.  Place colored pearls on circle as desired and our card is finished!

Apple Harvest Card

Thanks for checking out our September Creative Card-iology Team Blog Hop!  This month we have created projects using “Perfect Partners” stamps and dies.  The Perfect Partners dies are 6 new die collections created to coordinate with 6 stamp sets found in the current 2022-2024 Annual and July-December 2022 catalogs.  The dies are only available for a limited time (through the end of September or while supplies last).  Bundling the stamp set and dies together will save you 10%!

My project features the Apple Harvest Bundle, and the stamp set is from the July-December 2022 catalog.  For me, stamping and creating is usually about memories and sharing those memories in some form, whether in a card, scrapbook layout, wall art, or some other kind of project.  What does the stamp set bring to mind and what can I create that shares that memory.

The Apple Harvest bundle brings fond memories of family apple picking outings.  My grandparents, parents and siblings would all gather together with ladders and baskets and get as many apples as we could.  Afterwards there would be apple pies, apple sauce, and sometimes caramel apples to enjoy.

My color choices for my card were Real Red, Basic Black and Basic White.  I first cut my card base from Basic Black, a 3 ¼” x 4 ¼” piece of Real Red, and a 3” x 4” piece of black and white gingham from the Gingham Cottage Designer Series Paper set.  Embossing the gingham piece with the Timeworn Type embossing folder added some great texture!

I stamped my apple image in Memento ink onto Basic White cardstock and die cut the stamped image and a label using dies from the Apple Blossom die collection.  The apple image was then colored using Real Red and Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends.  I also stamped my sentiment choice in Memento Ink on the label die cut.

With an Exacto knife, I made two slits about ¼” apart on each end of my sentiment label and threaded a 5 ½” piece of Black & White ¼” Gingham ribbon through the slits and underneath my label.  With all these pieces prepared, my card was now ready to put together.  Once my pieces were all adhered with Stampin’ Seal, glue dots and Stampin’ Dimensionals, a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added for some sparkle.

For some envelope embellishment, I traced the flap of my envelope onto a piece of the Real Red Gingham pattern in the Gingham Cottage DSP collection, cut out the piece and adhered it to my envelope flap - quick coordination of card and envelope!

You can check out the Perfect Partners bundles at my online store, but you won't want to wait long to check them out!  There's only about a week left in this promotion running through September 30th or while supplies last.

New Sale-A-Bration Items Added

Welcome to our August Creative Card-iology Team Blog Hop!  Our blogs are again featuring Sale-A-Bration items that customers can receive free with $50 or $100 orders.  Additional items have been added to the free products, and my project features several of these free items available through the end of August.

Every month my Stampin’ Up! team leader gives us a creative challenge and a business challenge that we can respond to in our facebook group.  This month our creative challenge is to create a project based on a card sketch/layout.  I decided to use this layout as inspiration for my blog project.  The Sale-A-Bration items I’ve used are the Aspen Trees Dies, the Timber Embossing Folder and the Rings of Love Designer Series Paper, along with the Perched in a Tree stamp set.  I love the sentiments and images in this set, and I think it pairs beautifully with the Rings of Love DSP!

I rotated the sketch layout from horizontal to vertical for my card and chose to use Soft Suede as my card base.  I used Basic White, Night of Navy and both sides of the bird patterned paper from the Rings of Love DSP collection for my 5 rectangle pieces for the layout.  I stamped the chosen sentiment in Saddle Brown Stazon ink at the top of the Basic White rectangle, and also stamped the bird image in the Saddle Brown Stazon on another piece of Basic White.  Blender pens and Night of Navy and Crushed Curry ink were used to color the stamped bird image.

The Night of Navy rectangle pieces were embossed with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder.  For some added embellishments, I wrapped Gold Shimmer ribbon around the bottom of the Basic White rectangle piece and tied a faux bow as well.  Pale Papaya Opal Rounds from the 2021-2023 Opal Rounds embellishment collection completed my card.

You can find out more about other Sale-A-Bration specials by clicking here.  There's still time to host a card-making party during Sale-A-Bration or join Stampin’ Up to get even more rewards!  I would love to talk with you about all the benefits of hosting or joining -  contact me here
