New Sale-A-Bration Items Added

Welcome to our August Creative Card-iology Team Blog Hop!  Our blogs are again featuring Sale-A-Bration items that customers can receive free with $50 or $100 orders.  Additional items have been added to the free products, and my project features several of these free items available through the end of August.

Every month my Stampin’ Up! team leader gives us a creative challenge and a business challenge that we can respond to in our facebook group.  This month our creative challenge is to create a project based on a card sketch/layout.  I decided to use this layout as inspiration for my blog project.  The Sale-A-Bration items I’ve used are the Aspen Trees Dies, the Timber Embossing Folder and the Rings of Love Designer Series Paper, along with the Perched in a Tree stamp set.  I love the sentiments and images in this set, and I think it pairs beautifully with the Rings of Love DSP!

I rotated the sketch layout from horizontal to vertical for my card and chose to use Soft Suede as my card base.  I used Basic White, Night of Navy and both sides of the bird patterned paper from the Rings of Love DSP collection for my 5 rectangle pieces for the layout.  I stamped the chosen sentiment in Saddle Brown Stazon ink at the top of the Basic White rectangle, and also stamped the bird image in the Saddle Brown Stazon on another piece of Basic White.  Blender pens and Night of Navy and Crushed Curry ink were used to color the stamped bird image.

The Night of Navy rectangle pieces were embossed with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder.  For some added embellishments, I wrapped Gold Shimmer ribbon around the bottom of the Basic White rectangle piece and tied a faux bow as well.  Pale Papaya Opal Rounds from the 2021-2023 Opal Rounds embellishment collection completed my card.

Sale-A-Brating with the Hippo Dies

Welcome to our July Creative Card-iology Team Blog Hop!  We are sale-a-brating in July and August again, and our blogs are featuring some of the Sale-A-Bration items that customers can receive free with $50 or $100 orders.

I chose to feature the Hippo Dies, a Free with $50 item, which I paired with the Season of Chic stamp set from the Annual Catalog and the Storybook Gnomes Designer Series Paper from the July-December Catalog.

Along with the dies that cut out the stamped images from the Hippest Hippos stamp set, there are several dies that can be used with the hippo images to create different settings for the hippos, or the dies can be used on their own.

I chose to use the umbrella and the splashed water droplets dies for my card.  My card base of Poppy Parade and a layer of Balmy Blue coordinated with the Storybook Gnomes mushroom print used for the umbrella.

I die cut the umbrella and the water drops along the side of a 3 ¾” x 5” piece of Basic White.  I also die cut an umbrella from a scrap of the mushroom print patterned paper.

Sentiments from the Season of Chic stamp set were stamped on the die cut Basic White layer and on an inside card layer, and then my layers were adhered on the card front.  I glued the patterned umbrella die cut piece into the die cut opening on the Basic White layer, and also glued a ½” strip of the same patterned paper to the bottom of my inside layer.

It's a pretty simple card layout with the dies used in a different way than might be expected, but I love how it turned out!

Celebrate Today Magnetic Board Kit-spiration

Welcome to the June Creative Card-iology Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Kit Collection, which are currently on sale for BOGO 50% off.  Kits are a fun and easy way to create cards or other projects – you can put them together by yourself or gather some friends or family together to create together!  And they make wonderful gifts!  The BOGO 50% off sale makes it a great time to shop for all your gift-giving needs.

I chose to feature the Celebrate Today Magnetic Board kit for my project today.  I tend to be a bit disorganized and forgetful sometimes, and this kit has some great options for keeping appointments, tasks to do, and other things I want to remember right in front of me.   This kit is $25.00, and I bought a second one at 50% off in the current sale – one to keep track of the projects I need to create, and the other as a reminder of Scripture verses to meditate on or people to pray for.

The kit includes the framed magnetic board with the picture hangar already attached on the back, 2 sheets of 12x12 double-sided patterned paper, 3x4 cards with calendars blanks and list-making options, decorative stickers and headings to use, 2 small file folders to put together, a roll of double-sided adhesive and magnetic clips.

I wanted to be able to reuse some of my lists, so I applied some clear adhesive-backed shelf liner onto calendar cards and list cards.  This will allow me to use dry-erase markers to keep my lists current and also use more of the decorative side of the rest of the cards for card making projects.

I also applied the clear adhesive shelf liner to both side of one set of the 12x12 paper, which will keep these papers looking good for a long time and allow me to change out the back ground if I want to.  I removed the picture hanger from the back of one of the frames and applied magnetic strips on the back so I could hang it on my refrigerator.

I cut one of the other pieces of patterned paper to 9.25” x 5.75” and applied the shelf liner to both sides of this paper to make a cover for a pocket size traveler notebook cover and made inserts for this notebook with coordinating cardstock covers.  I used a sentiment from the retiring Flowering Rain Boots stamp set as a focal piece for my notebook cover.

My final creations with this kit were several cards using the cards and stickers from the kit, with the addition of a few embellishments I had on hand.  It's amazing how much you can create with a kit and a few extra supplies!

I hope you’ve been inspired by these projects and the projects my fellow bloggers have created to try out a kit.  Kits are the easiest way to get started creating with Stampin’ Up!’s fabulous color coordinated products – don’t miss this opportunity to craft with family or friends at the discounted price!  You can use order kits by clicking on this link and using host code UPGZZBQ9 at checkout.

If you’d like more detailed instructions and inspiration for using the Magnetic Board Kit and making the traveler notebook cover, sign up here for the class on Tuesday, July 12, at 7:00 pm.  Or invite some friends, schedule a time to get together with me, at my place or yours, and I'll walk you through making the projects together - you'll earn free hostess rewards!  The class is $20 if you already have your own Celebrate Today Magnetic Board Kit, or just $5 for the extra supplies if you order the kit by using the link above.
