Creative Cardiology Team Blog Hop - Sketch Challenge

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!  I am participating in a blog hop with a few of my friends from the Creative Card-iology Team, so once you've checked out my blog post you can hop on over to their blogs by clicking on the links toward the bottom of the post!

This month's theme was a Sketch Challenge, which means that we were given a sketch  (or card layout) to use for our project, and we could use any stamp set, papers, or color scheme to make our card.

I used the Tasteful Touches stamp set and the coordinating Designer Series Paper and Elements from the In Good Taste suite of products to make my card.  My Thick Very Vanilla card base has a mat of Early Espresso cardstock and 3 different wood grain prints from the In Good Taste paper collection.

I trimmed the wood grain pieces to fit on my mat with an approximate 1/8" border all the way around and stamped my sentiment in Early Espresso ink on the bottom piece of wood grain paper. These patterned pieces were then adhered to the Early Espresso mat along with a length of Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon, which added a touch of color and more texture to my card.

I cut a circle of Early Espresso and a slightly larger scalloped circle of Very Vanilla using the Layering Circle dies and layered these together and then adhered the circle to my card base with Mini Glue Dots.

The flower image was stamped in Early Espresso ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  I used Dark and Light Petal Pink, Light Calypso Coral and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color the flower, cut it out with Paper Snips, and then adhered it with Stampin' Dimensionals to the circle.

Finally, I colored some of the leaf elements with the Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blend and adhered the elements with Mini Glue Dots underneath the stamped flower.

Someone asked me this week where I find inspiration for my cards and projects, and there are so many places!  I often find inspiration in seeing the layouts, or sketches, used by other card makers.  There are so many possibilities that can result from a simple sketch!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!  I love hearing your thoughts on my projects, so please leave a comment below!  Don't forget to hop along with us by clicking on the links below and checking out my friends' projects!
